Dialogue Practitioners Meeting:
Towards strengthening the Support Network
of the Democratic Dialogue Regional Project

The meeting took place in Buenos Aires on December 12 to 14, 2005. Its purpose was to gather together current and potential members of the Network to inform them about this effort, unify some conceptual criteria, and share visions, objectives and possible working strategies. This event also represented the first step towards making official a Network that has been operating during the Project’s life. An important group of experienced dialogue practitioners participated in the meeting.

The general objectives of the Meeting were the following:

Sensitize the participants to the UNDP conceptual frameworks around democratic governance and democratic dialogue.

Deepen their knowledge about the achievements and experience of the Democratic Dialogue Project, their perspectives and challenges in the future.

Get a better understanding about the interest from the practitioners in establishing the Support Network, and their ideas on how to implement it.

Foster a space for trust building and mutual knowledge between the participants and the UNDP.

Effectively build the Network in a collaborative way.

During the opening dinner, Fernando Calderón, Coordinator of the PAPEP, made a presentation commentated later by Jorge Arguello, President of the Commission on External Affairs of the National Parliamentary Chamber and Jennifer McCoy, Director of the Americas Program of the Carter Center.

Visit our redesigned Website

During the past months, the Democratic Dialogue Regional Project team has worked redesigning its website, which is already available at the usual address:  www.democraticdialoguenetwork.org, in English and Spanish.

The new website offers the user a more dynamic structure of its information presented in well defined sections. An informative and divulgation space has also been added, where you will be able to access information about the Project such as the e-bulletin InfoDiálogo, a video library, publications, brochure, executive summary, and an institutional slide presentation of the Project. The Directories of our Community of Practice and Support Network are also available in an attractive format. The user can also easily contact the Project in order to ask for publications, documents and videos, or to send us their contributions and suggestions.

Furthermore, important improvements to the website administration were made in order to keep a timely maintenance and broaden the communication channels with the community interested in dialogue worldwide. We invite you to visit our Website.
