The Carter Center and UNDP convened the Generative Reflection Workshop: Assessing the Impact of Democratic Dialogues, which was hold at the Carter Center in Atlanta on January 24 and 25. This workshop brought together 38 experts on evaluation of dialogue and conflict prevention processes, decision-makers, and dialogue actors. Former President Jimmy Carter and Ms. Rebeca Grynspan joined the group for a session on the final day. The Workshop provided a space for reflection and mutual learning, allowing the collective creation of relevant knowledge on evaluation approaches for dialogue processes. Experts identified a set of useful guidelines to measure results and impact, and lay the foundation for the development of a democratic dialogue assessment methodology. Results of this workshop will be published by UNDP/Carter Center. |
The Handbook on Democratic Dialogue has been a joint effort of CIDA, International IDEA, OAS and UNDP, receiving valuable input from a wider network of organizations. This Handbook has been designed to reflect current practice in the field of dialogue and to draw on concrete experiences of practitioners in various regions and of various actors involved in these processes. It seeks to consolidate emerging learning – both in terms of the conceptual framework supporting dialogue, and practical experiences in the design, facilitation and assessment of such processes on the ground. It also offers a comprehensive mapping of the process tools that can be used to support dialogue initiatives, thereby expanding the toolbox currently available to practitioners. The Handbook on Democratic Dialogue will be published soon and its launching will take place in New York. |
